Top-seeded seniors Maya and Kaya Wielopolski of Longwood defeated Lynnie Gallagher and Leah Carano of Ward Melville, 6-4, 6-3, yesterday to win their second straight doubles championship at the county tournament at Shoreham-Wading River High School. – M. Wielopolski and K. Wielopolski (Longwood) def. Hull and Sullivan (Ward Melville), 6-1, 6-3. Gallagher and Carano (Ward Melville), def. Allison Stemple and Farryl Cohen, Half Hollow Hills East, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Girls Tennis

Morgan White defeated Adrian Bongiurno at second singles, 6-4, 6-4, to give sixth-seeded Southampton a 4-3 win over No. 11 East Islip in the first round of the county team tournament. First doubles Christine Chang and Lori Frischer beat Erika Haggist and Kristen Kramer, 6-4, 6-0, to lead third-seeded Half Hollow Hills West to a 6-1 win over Shoreham-Wading River.

In other first-round matches, Maya Wielopolski beat Beth Last, 2-6, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles as fifth-seeded Longwood beat No. 12 Smithtown West, 4 1/2-2 1/2. Tracy Boone defeated Sara Maldonado, 6-1, 6-2, at first singles to lead Westhampton over Southampton, 7-0.
