WINTER TRACK AND FIELD PREVIEW, Experienced Bay Shore poised to repeat: [NASSAU AND SUFFOLK Edition]

JAMES FITZPATRICK, JR.. STAFF WRITER. Newsday, Combined editions; Long Island, N.Y. [Long Island, N.Y]. 24 Dec 2006:

Led by first-year coach Andres Boromio, Bay Shore will be gunning for its second consecutive Suffolk large schools championship. The Marauders return five key seniors from last year’s squad, including All-County distance runner Jesse Thompson, who took first in the 600 meters (1 minutes, 27 seconds) in a crossover meet on Dec. 2. All- County triple-jumper and proven sprinter Rob Sainvil, who won the triple jump (41 feet, 3.5 inches) at the meet, also will run on the 4 x 200 relay team. Watch for senior distance runners Henry Gonzalez and John Dettori to also play a big role in Bay Shore’s success.

Challenging for the Suffolk crown will be distance runner John Badolato, shot-putter Dennis Faherty and the rest of the West Islip squad. The team is stacked with veteran leadership and are hungry to be the county’s best. Another contender is Longwood, which has one of the most versatile athletes in senior Austin Archibald.
