GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY– Preview

Bay Shore graduated five of its top seven runners from the team that beat Floyd and two-time defending champion Longwood for the Class A county title. Suffolk Class A runnerup Kristen Kroeger is now running for the University of South Carolina, Danielle Morello for East Stroudsburg (Pa.), Monique Johnson for St. John’s, Janet Wilson for Virginia Commonwealth and Colette Taylor for Virginia.

But coach Ross Goldin hopes to defend the title with sophomores Chante Daily and Emily Germano and the top two Class A finishers in last year’s county JV championship race, freshman Melanie Mickle and eighth-grader Jackie Pasquerella.

Longwood will challenge with senior Jennifer Delosso, juniors Erin Dolan, Kristen Bradley and Suzanne Dunbarand freshmen Kristen Fosdick and Carla Reader.

Sachem lost individual champion Shari Mark (19:46.9), who now runs for Towson State, but returns juniors Karen Labbadia and Kristen Erario and senior Tricia Mongiello. Floyd has senior Jean Stevens and Connetquot’s top returnee is freshman Regina Ely.

Erin Dolan and Kristen Fosdick of Longwood finished first and second, respectively, in times of 19:38.5 and 19:39, to lead Longwood to the team title in the Conference I girls championships. Dolan’s was the day’s best overall time for the girls. Nov.1
