Melissa Rockfeld (244), Wendy Dinolfo (237), Rachel Buckheit (210) and Marissa Valenti (200) led East Islip past Northport in girls bowling. After winning its fifth straight league championship with a 9-0 record, the Sachem’s girls bowling team will attempt to win its fifth county title in a row as well at the team championships at Stony Brook Bowl on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The other competing teams, in order of finish, are Patchogue-Medford (8-1), East Islip (7-2) and Longwood (5-3-1). Feb. 9

In what Longwood coach Steve Abrams called the closest championship in his 15 years in bowling, Patchogue-Medford edged Sachem, 5,306-5,305, in the Suffolk girls county team tournament at Stony Brook. Michele Clark (189) and Rachael Vollaro (187) took first and second in high average for Patchogue-Medford, which trailed Sachem by 170 pins after the morning session. Longwood‘s Jen Renda took high game with a 233, while Patchogue-Medford’s Lauren Galletta had high series with a 594. Patchogue-Medford advances to the state tournament, also scheduled for Mineola on March 4. Feb. 12
