[Ali Fourney] returned Jan. 21 and [Northport] looks as potent as it did last season when it won the Class AA Long Island girls basketball championship. The Tigers won Suffolk League II, finished 19-0 and are the top seed for the playoffs that start this week. Northport, after a bye, hosts the winner of No. 8 Bay Shore (14-4) and No. 9 Longwood (13-6) at 6 p.m. Friday.

Corine Gandolfi added 18 points, six rebounds and six assists for Northport (20-0). Danielle Jenkins’ 22 points led Longwood (14-7). Northport will play Commack at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Longwood in a semifinal.

Commack 58, Sachem North 43: Erica Kaplan scored 11 of her 23 points in a 20-5 third quarter as No. 5 Commack (15-6) took a 38-24 lead. Sam Prahalis added 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Megan Caskin had 20 points for No. 4 SN (12-8).
