In League II, Jackie Legnon scored an unearned run in the top of the eighth on a throwing error and Danielle DeGiorgio scored on Dana Calvano’s sacrifice bunt to give Longwood a 5-3 lead en route to a 5- 4 win over Connetquot.

Connetquot scored a run on a passed ball with none out in the bottom half of the inning, but Megan Walters then retired the side for the win. Legnon made a catch in centerfield in the seventh inning on a potential home run that would have given Connetquot the lead.

Grade: Senior

School: Longwood

Athletics: Tennis (fall), basketball (winter), softball (spring)

Statistics: DeGiorgio, a three-time All-County shortstop, is putting up stellar offensive numbers this season. She is hitting .649, with six triples, eight doubles, 16 RBI and 19 stolen bases. She also was an All-State tennis player and a two-time All-County basketball player. DeGiorgio was named Miss Suffolk by the Suffolk County Girls Basketball Coaches Association.

Interests: DeGiorgio plays in the school band and is involved in peer tutoring.
