Suffolk fall golf includes 27 schools divided into five leagues. The top teams in League I are Smithtown, with Andrew Larsen and Chuck Ruoff, and Ward Melville with Joe Guarascio and Craig Capello, the leading player in the league last year. East Islip dominates League II with four all-league players: Brian Gerhausen, Keith Clark, Tom Donnelly and Jason Rosand. League III should be a three-way battle between Bellport with Christian Materese, Patchogue/Medford with Brett Stephani and Longwood with Brian Hale, last year’s top league player. The co-champions in League IV were Shoreham-Wading River with All-Leaguers Ryan Taylor and Rob Klaire and Greenport/Southold with Kevin Sage and Kieran Mairano. Southhampton is defending League V champion with Brian Armusewicz. In golf, Longwood sophomore Christie Grzymala shot a hole-in-one on the seventh hole of Swan Lake at the Longwood Fall Golf Invitational. Craig Cappello of Ward Melville and Eric Nielsen of Westhampton competed in a playoff for first place and Nielsen won on the second hole of sudden death with a birdie. Ward Melville won the team championship with a 416 total. Port Jefferson finished second with 422, followed by Southampton 425, Greenport / Southold 428, Westhampton 434 and Longwood 437.
